ACADEMIC POLICY

All graduation requirements will be in accordance with the curriculum for each degree sought.  Exception to these requirements is by petition to academic Dean with approval by the president. 

 

ACADEMIC STANDING

To remain in good academic standing, students must successfully complete seventy-five percent of all courses in which they enroll. 

 

PERMANENT ACADEMIC RECORD

All grades are recorded as a permanent part of the student’s academic history.  Adjustments for uncompleted courses may be corrected within 2 years; otherwise they remain a part of the student’s permanent record. 

 

HANDLING OF ACCOUNTS

A.B.T.S.  requires all fees and tuitions to be paid in full at the time of enrollment.  However, if installments are desired a plan is available.  Should one default one of the payment plans listed, the student shall be liable for the full amount. 

 

PLAN I.       

The student submits the full amount of all fees and tuition with application. Under this plan the student may deduct 5% as a discount for cash payment.

 

PLAN II.       

The student may send $100.00 with application for enrollment and pay the balance in three equal monthly payments over a 90-day period. 

ADMISSION

Applications to Abundant Blessings Theological Seminary will be required to meet the following criteria:

 

Transcripts must be submitted to Registrar's office prior to registration date to ensure accurate program placement.

 

Each student is required to submit a Life Experience Resumé to qualify for admission to the Bachelor's Program.

 

After evaluation of the candidate's application, and Life Experience Resumé, by entrance committee, advance-standing credit may be granted.  The committee will take into account the following factors:

           

            1. Previous courses in the field of study

            2. Past experience in the field of study

            3. Church sponsored Bible studies or teacher's training.

            4. Significant life events, which have a relation to self –education.

            5. Any formal training past the secondary school level.

 

DEGREES

 

Associate Degree

This degree may be awarded to students who have completed a minimum of 60 semester hours of study or its equivalent.  If the nomenclature of the degree is entitled Associate of Arts in Christian Education then 25% of the degree should be of Christian Education studies. 

 

Bachelor Degree

The Bachelor’s Degree may be earned by having a total of 120 semester hours.  If at least 25% of the degree is not in general studies then a different nomenclature should be used for the Bachelor Degree being granted.  We offer: Bachelor of General Religion Studies; Bachelor of Biblical Science and Bachelor of Theology.

 

Master's Degree

The Master's Degree may be granted upon the completion of a minimum of 36 semester hours of study above the Bachelor’s Degree including a submitted thesis of six semester hours. 

The Master's thesis must be type-written on not less than 50 (50-100) pages covering a topic researched in Theology or Counseling.

 

Doctorate Degree

The Doctorate requires a recorded document of high quality scholarship.  The required document is a minimum of 80 (80-160) typed-written pages double spaced or the equivalent there unto.  The Doctorate Degree requires a minimum of 72 semester hours above Bachelor’s Degree or 36 semester hours above a Master's Degree.

 

Honorary Degree

Only two HONORARY Doctorate Degrees may be offered in the home country and two additional in foreign countries.  This would make a total of four Honorary Degrees, but from at least two countries.  The Honorary Degree must state on the face of the degree.

 

Honorary Degrees are considered powerful degrees given to rare people for major achievements in the field of the degree.  Several things are considered by the school.  The person’s sufficient age to have accomplished the feats considered in the granting of the degree.  Serious consideration will be given to the number of Honorary Degrees given in a calendar year. Nomenclature will be used for Honorary Degrees.

 

Diploma/Certification

In the event a degree is not appropriate for the particular program offered; (i.e. Christian education, leadership training, etc.) the school will show a diploma or certificate of completion of study.

 

Credit for Life Experience

In addition to the above requirements, each student may be required to submit a Life Experience Resume, to qualify for admission to the Bachelor’s Program.

 

The following guidelines have been established in credible academic circles of the maximum on credit for life experience:

Bachelor Degree-25% or 30 credit hours

Master's Degree-25% or 8 credit hours

Doctorate level of study-No life experience credit will be given. 

All exception of requirements must be made prior to program completion.  Exceptions must have written approval of the college president. 

 

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

 

1.    For an Associate Degree- One official copy of a high school transcript or equivalent.

 

2.    For a Bachelor’s Degree – one official copy of a high school transcript; Christian education resume or associate degree from an accredited institution, the candidate’s official transcript   showing a G.P.A. of  2.5 or higher.

 

3.   For a Master's Degree- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, the candidate’S official transcript showing a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher.

 

4.    For a Doctoral Degree- A Master's Degree from an accredited seminary; a certified copy of the candidate’s transcript showing a 3.0 G.P.A. or better in the Master's Program and 3  letters of recommendation.
